Infant CPR and Safety

Diabetes Class Series
Our certified diabetes educators provide a team approach to diabetes education. Learn from these experts what you need to know to successfully manage diabetes. The series covers a variety of topics including nutrition and meal planning, monitoring, dealing with complications, and exercise. For program details, call (703) 689-9100
Joint Replacement Orientation Program
Date(s): 3rd Tuesday of each month Time(s): 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
2nd Tuesday of each month from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
1st Thursday of each month from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
This free class is designed to educate you and your family about total joint replacement surgery. Learn more about planning for surgery, what to expect at the hospital, and what to do after surgery. Please call us at 1-877-689-DOCS (3627) to register.
Safe Sitter
Time(s): Saturday - 8:30 am to 3 p.m. and Sunday - 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Date(s): Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 19/20, June 21/22, Aug 16/17 and Oct. 18/19. Students must attend both days, Saturday 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., and Sunday- 1-5 p.m.
This class teaches girls and boys ages 11 to 14 the skills they need to care for young children. Students learn the basic lifesaving techniques such as rescue breathing and the Heimlich maneuver. The course covers accident management, safety precautions and basic child development.
Cost: $50 fee for course materials and snacks. Students must attend both days. Call 1-877-689-DOCS (3627) to register.

Support Groups |
May We Be of Support?
Sometimes coming together with others who share your interests and concerns can give you the extra confidence you need to cope more successfully. At Reston Hospital Center, we offer a number of support groups that will give you more information, an opportunity to meet new friends or help you manage your health more successfully.
Cancer Support Group: This group is available to patients and families, ranging from newly diagnosed to long-term cancer survivors. Benefit from discussions on traditional treatments, networking, and learning about resources. Experts speak monthly on a variety of topics, including alternative therapies and nutrition. New members are always welcome. The Cancer Support Group meets the first Tuesday of each month in Classroom "B" from 1830-1930, 1850 Town Center Drive, on the Reston Hospital Center campus. Look Good, Feel Better®
Held on the second Monday of each month at 7 pm.

For women undergoing cancer treatment, we are proud to host The American Cancer Society's Look Good - Feel Better® program. This is an excellent way for women to get together and learn how to manage the cosmetic side effects of cancer treatment. To register please call Toni Pannell at 703-689-9330.
Diabetes Support Group: This group is designed to meet the needs of people living with diabetes. It meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. For program details, call (703) 689-9100.

Mitral Valve Prolapse/Dysautonomia Support Group: Second Tuesday - noon. Call (703) 689-9240 for location.

Healthy Community 2010
This health-screening program was developed by Reston Hospital Center to improve the health of our community.
Cholesterol Screening
Total cholesterol with HDL (good cholesterol) and ratio of good to bad cholesterol, and glucose levels for diabetics will be offered for $10. Registration and fastings are NOT required.

Attention, big sisters and brothers to be! In this enjoyable class, children learn about their new roles. Sessions include holding and diapering an infant doll, watching a video on becoming a sibling and visiting the nursery and birthing suites. For children ages 3 to 6 years. $15.00 for one child, two children for $25.00 Call toll-free, 1-877-689-DOCS (3627) to register.
Tours are a must for expectant couples! These tours are informative and will help to answer questions that you may have. Tours are offered most Tuesday evenings and on selected Saturday mornings. No fee, but registration is required. Call toll-free, 1-877-689-DOCS (3627) early, as tours fill up quickly.
